Injured Arsenal Star Shares A Pose With His Cute Son [LOOK]

Jack Wilshere looked upbeat despite his ankle operation as he posted a picture with son Archie on Saturday morning.

The Arsenal midfielder has had his comeback delayed after what manager Arsene Manager has described as a ‘minor procedure’.

Wilshere will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash with Everton at the Emirates Stadium, and posted a picture on Instagram with the caption: ‘With my little Gunner’.

Arsenal’s Star Midfielder In Trouble Yet Again After Caught Smoking At A Club

Jack Wilshere is at the centre of another smoking controversy after a picture emerged of the Arsenal midfielder holding a shisha pipe at a nightclub.

The England star, 23, is recovering from ankle surgery after sustaining an injury during a defeat by Manchester United in November and is expected to make a first-team return by the end of the month.

This picture of Wilshere posing with friends and holding the pipe, reportedly taken at a London nightclub last week, was uploaded to Instagram on Tuesday before being removed, but then subsequently reposted on Twitter, leading to criticism from fans on the social media network.

Henry, Drogba, Fabregas And Watch NBA Game In London [PHOTOS]

Stars from the worlds of sports and showbiz turned out in force to watch the fifth regular season NBA contest staged in London when the struggling New York Knicks came up against the Milwaukee Bucks at the sold-out O2 Arena.

Around 60 Premier League players were believed to be in on the guest list, although few are likely to have had better views than those shared by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Chelsea team-mates Cesc Fagregas and Didier Drogba from their courtside seats.

Gunners midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did, however, get close to a couple of Knicks cheerleaders for a glamourous photo taken backstage.

Henry, who could have picked up his affection for basketball while playing in the MLS for New York Red Bulls, was given a standing ovation when his image was flashed up on the big screen ahead of the game.

Other sports stars at the event included former England striker Michael Owen, the England rugby union team’s No 8, Billy Vunipola, and British heavyweight boxing sensation Anthony Joshua.

Top Tweets From Footballers And Clubs In Tribute To Nelson Mandela

Football stars across the world have taken to Twitter to express their sadness at the death of Nelson Mandela.

Within minutes of the news breaking late on Thursday night, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jack Wilshere and Rio Ferdinand were on the social networking site to pay tribute.
Clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea also expressed their sadness that the former South Africa president had passed away at age 95.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter paid tribute to a man who “will stay in our hearts forever”. He said: “It is in deep mourning that I pay my respects to an extraordinary person, probably one of the greatest humanists of our time and a dear friend of mine: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Aaron Ramsey (And Not Ozil) Epitomizes Arsenal’s Resilience This Season

Never did we think we could run out of superlatives to describe Aaron Ramsey. The midfielder was simply magnificent on his return to Cardiff, scoring his 12th and 13th goals of the season to fire Arsenal seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and add further conviction to the Gunners’ title credentials.

Arsene Wenger’s pre-match comments now look rather prescient, given Ramsey’s all-action display against the team for which he made his professional debut.

The manager also carried a warning for Arsenal, which was clearly heeded by his team as they produced a dominant display and stemmed Cardiff pressure at the start of the second half. “They beat City at home and they played a very good game against Manchester United where possession was 50-50, so that is the challenge for us – to do better than these teams,” said Wenger on Friday. “You could feel that they would come back (against United). They have that special attitude and belief in the side, and that makes them dangerous.”
Indeed, only two teams have picked up more points from losing positions than Cardiff, with fight backs against City and United giving the Bluebirds’ home the feel of an elephant’s graveyard.

Not for Arsenal, however, who were more than up to the tusk task on Saturday, led by another superb contribution from the Premier League player of the season so far.

Ramsey embodies Arsenal’s remarkable resilience, which shows little sign of cracking despite desperate attempts to undermine their achievements this year. While the 22-year-old has shown incredible grit and determination to make a mockery of those who wrote him off as he struggled to get over his harrowing leg break, Arsenal have done the same, albeit over a shorter period of time.
Andre Villas-Boas spoke of a ‘negative spiral’ after Spurs’ 2-1 victory over their rivals at the start of March but, as the Portuguese now finds himself under mounting pressure, Arsenal are celebrating a 25th victory in 33 matches since that grueling Sunday in spring.
Given the speed of Arsenal’s transformation it is perhaps difficult to comprehend quite how far they have come in such a short space of time, with many preferring to focus on the 1-0 loss to United as a sign that things will soon change at the top. However, this is a team full of keen students, coached by a manager who may have let his hand slip on the tiller last season, but is now ‘more concentrated, more conscious’, as Santi Cazorla said last week.
As Bayern Munich tore Arsenal apart with embarrassing ease in February, only three days after the Gunners’ were knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackburn and two weeks before that loss to Spurs and the dreadful defensive display that came with it, it seemed that the current cast at the Emirates would never learn.

But then came that night in Munich – the only match in which Bayern have failed to score since April 11, 2012. It was a strange game that taught us little that we didn’t already know about Wenger and his team, and yet the result has galvanized Arsenal in a way few would have imagined.
There are still questions as to whether the Gunners can consistently produce their best performances in the ‘bigger’ tests, with Wenger pointing to ‘nerves’ in the defeat to United, but the idea of a brittle core is crumbling.

Arsenal have not lost in the last 24 Premier League matches in which both Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have completed 90 minutes, Wojciech Szczesny underlined his improvement with a fine save from Fraizer Campbell on Saturday, while Mathieu Flamini has added steel and a winning mentality – two qualities Olivier Giroud now boasts on a weekly basis. Mesut Ozil brings a dash of panache to go with the new-found gristle.
This is a team that were thoroughly out-thought in a 2-1 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund in October before adapting their approach to leave the Westfalenstadion with a priceless 1-0 win just two weeks later.

After successive defeats at the Emirates to Dortmund and Chelsea, Liverpool were ruthlessly put the sword by a confident and intelligent display that somewhat mirrored Dortmund’s drive through the centre. Napoli and Spurs have also been brushed aside, while wins over Southampton and Cardiff are worthy of great praise given the context.
The gap at the top was not seven points on Saturday merely because Arsenal have been by far the best team in the country this season, but also because of their ability to bounce back from disappointment, both as a group and as individuals. Ramsey is the prime example, of course, but Jack Wilshere also answered his critics with a match-winning display against Marseille in midweek.
Ozil provided two assists in the victory at Cardiff to refute claims of a loss of form – “at any moment he can kill you with a pass” said Wenger on Saturday – while Sagna has now firmly banished the memories of his hapless performance in January’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

It is getting harder to raise the long-standing concerns over Arsenal’s ability to challenge at the top. The mistakes are gradually disappearing; the soft belly has become firmer while doubts over a small squad are alleviated somewhat by Theo Walcott’s return and Lukas Podolski nearing fitness.

Arsenal are evolving to the point at which it will soon be difficult to judge them by previous standards. They are a new beast, a different proposition entirely this season and, as talk of an implosion appears increasingly unlikely, their rivals face a hard task to stop them

7 Things We Learnt From Tuesday’s Champions League Matches

Tuesday’s Champions League action saw six teams hoping to book their qualification for the next stage of the competition, but in the end, only one side managed to do it.

Arsenal were in action at home against Marseille, although Gunners fans may have been forgiven for having one eye on matters in Germany—where Borussia Dortmund were hoping to keep their qualification hopes alive against Napoli.

Elsewhere, Chelsea were hoping to book their place in the last 16 (and gain revenge for an earlier loss in the process) against Basel, while AC Milan and Ajax were also facing pivotal encounters.

Here are the lessons that can be drawn from the games.
Jose Needs To Bring Back Mata… and quickly too
What is going on at Stamford Bridge between Mourinho and Juan Mata? The Spaniard has started just eight games this season, and while he has not necessarily struggled, he has looked far from his best.
Oscar has taken on the central playmaking role in Mata’s absence and has proven to be a worthy replacement, with six goals so far this season. But the Brazilian looked jaded against Basel, lacking that extra yard of pace and sharpness that is usually so clear to see in the 22-year-old. He was replaced by Kevin De Bruyne in the second half.

With Mata on the bench and apparently fit, why was the two-time Chelsea Player of the Year not asked to come and change the game? Chelsea struggled in the final third and did not test Yann Sommer in the Basel goal once.

After the defeat, the questions surrounding Mata’s future are certain to intensify with the 25-year-old bizarrely left out again.

John Obi Mikel’s Inconsistency a Concern
After a superb showing against West Ham, Mikel’s below-par display against Basel showed exactly why he has not been given a regular role in the Chelsea team.
As a stark contrast to the 3-0 win at the weekend, where he was dominant in possession and tidying up the play, Mikel was a liability in the centre of midfield. Mourinho will be disappointed that the Nigerian failed to continue where he left off.

His midfield partners, Frank Lampard and Ramires, were no better, with all three struggling to impose themselves.

Nevertheless, the duo have proven themselves worthy of their spot in the past.
Mikel? He still has a lot of work to do.
Jack Wilshere Is a Good Fit on the Right Wing
Several games back, Arsene Wenger tried to fit Jack Wilshere on the left wing, and the move was a monumental failure. Then, a few weeks ago, Wenger shifted him to the right against Norwich, and the result was a talismanic performance.
Due to a combination of Theo Walcott’s lack of full fitness and Arsenal’s surfeit of midfield talent, Wilshere was pushed out on the right flank and did his best Arjen Robben impression to slice inside and cause havoc in central midfield.

Wilshere’s display gives Wenger a selection dilemma with Walcott returning to his prior sharpness, as the Englishman truly is a unique option on the right wing.
But Wilshere’s man-of-the-match display in a contest that had several contenders nullifies any suggestions that he was a flash in the pan or that he will not overcome his ankle injuries.

Lorenzo Insigne Can Be a Star…if He Plays
One of the heroes for Napoli in Champions League Matchday 1 was Lorenzo Insigne, who scored a brilliant free-kick that put Napoli 2-0 ahead of Dortmund.
On Tuesday, the 22-year-old was benched. But when he came on, he scored within five minutes—a cool finish with his first opportunity that suggests he is already very mature. In injury time, he nearly scored a critical away goal for Napoli that would have given them an aggregate advantage over BVB in a possible head-to-head tiebreaker.

In spite of his poor scoring record in Serie A, Insigne’s performance in his two matches against Dortmund are evidence that he has the composure and maturity to be relied upon as more than just a substitute in big games.

Still 22, he has plenty of room to develop and could become a big star.
How Did Barca’s Patchwork Defence Fare?
Both Ajax goals were as a result of sloppy defence on Barca’s part.
Not very well is the answer.
Puyol, Pinto were poor against Ajax
Given his success in the job thus far, it would be unfair to criticize Tata Martino.
However, there can be no valid reason for leaving Marc Bartra out of the starting line-up, instead preferring the Gerard Pique-Javier Mascherano partnership.

With Martin Montoya filling in as emergency left back, the defence had somewhat of a lopsided feel to it, and Carles Puyol at right back was a risk given the speed of the Ajax attack down that channel.

There was no cohesion throughout the back-line, far too many balls going straight to the opposition, slipping at crucial times.
No one was immune and frankly, it was an embarrassment.
Should We Have Expected More from Neymar?
Is there too much pressure on the young Brazilian?
Is the burden on Neymar too much for him to carry?
In Lionel Messi’s absence, there is a cursory acknowledgement that Neymar should be the go-to man. Is that being a little unfair to him?

Or in games such as this, are we right to expect that when an opportunity presents itself, he has to take it?
Twice in the first half the Brazilian was in on goal, both times unable to trouble the keeper.
There can be no complaints about his industry and work ethic and in the second half, particularly, he was much more incisive.
However, goals win games, and he hasn’t yet delivered on the biggest European stage.
Kaka Continues to Impress
Kaka’s speed had appeared to be gone after Real Madrid relegated him to the bench for four seasons. Often injured, he had seemed to have lost the defining characteristic that set him apart from other footballers: his searing pace with the ball at his feet.
Against Celtic, he scored a header from a corner kick and went on a few signature darting runs, where he effortlessly breezed past onrushing defenders.

At 31 years old, Kaka has seemingly entered a rejuvenation machine since joining Milan this summer. With him in the lineup, Milan have a much-needed player who can bring the necessary experience to thrive in crucial moments.

REVEALED: Jack Wilshere’s Mom Still Washes His Clothes (PHOTOS HERE)

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere found a roundabout way of checking on the progress of his laundry by getting the BBC to ask his parents when his washing would be done.

Wilshere’s folks were guests on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning. The station’s official Twitter account posted a request asking readers to submit questions for the Wilsheres to answer.
Many questions were asked, amongst them was this!

He wanted to know: “When will my washing be done? We have a game tomorrow I need my slips!!!”

Hopefully the 21-year-old will be pointed in the direction of the washing machine by his parents. hehehehe
